About Us

South Berks Concert Band is a community wind band whose members have been performing in and around Berkshire and North Hampshire since 1976. We will be celebrating our 50th Anniversary in 2026.

As a community band of over 45 musicians, our members have a mix of experience and abilities, and range in age from teenagers to those in their 70s. Everyone works together to improve the band, discover new music, and bring quality live music to our audiences, under the guidance of Paul Speed, who has been the band’s Musical Director since 2008.

With a wide range of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments, plus the occasional vocal performance from the band, we can create a huge variety of sounds. This also enables us to play a wide range of musical styles, so whether your favourite musical genre is film scores, musicals, jazz, traditional marches, contemporary wind band music, classical works, original compositions, or pop music, we bring it all for you to enjoy at our live events.

The band currently rehearses in Tadley every Friday evening and performs a concert there at least once per year. We have strong links with the other local villages of Mortimer and Burghfield, where we also regularly perform concerts. During the summer months we can also be found performing at local fayres and bandstands, and occasionally on tour in the UK and abroad.

The band recently competed in the National Concert Band Festival in Eastleigh, and achieved the top Platinum Award for our performance.
